Kalencom Diaper Bags: Constantly Re-Inventing Itself After 35 Years!

New Orleans based Kalencom is one of the oldest diaper bag companies in the U.S. and in fact is credited with developing the first washable diaper bag. Today, after more than 35 years in the category, Kalencom’s designs are as fresh and exciting as they were in their first years.

Company owner Monica Kalozdi is the creative force behind the line, and her incredible sense of color and design comes through in each diaper bag.  "When we design a diaper bag we keep two things in mind: it must be easy and convenient to use, and it must appeal to the mom.  You can create the most efficient diaper bag in the world, but if mom doesn't feel good using it, the bag will never leave your shelf," observes Ms. Kalozdi.  Price is also an important consideration, and since Kalencom falls in the mid range, many moms own more than one.

Today the company offers more than 300 styles, and the mix and match color scheme provides tremendous excitement at point of sale and gives retailers many options in terms of product display.

If there is one word to describe Kalencom it would be “reinvention.”  The company is constantly evolving, incorporating the latest color trends from around the world and tapping into current fashion and lifestyle choices with every new diaper bag.  Not long ago they introduced eco-friendly manufacturing and eliminated harmful chemicals in the production process. And more recently, the company expanded with the creation of the Hadaki line, which offers personal and travel accessories for a younger set.   The vibrant colors and leather and wipe clean finishes make Hadaki the perfect complement to Kalencom, particularly for the mom who is looking to update her style in small ways.

Nurturing relationships with retailers is extremely important to Kalencom, and they always welcomed valuable input from stores as well as consumers in order to continue to create exciting products that sell season after season.
